The eclipse of Doechii
Client: Doechii | 2025 | album concept, illustrated package
An album concept that embodies the raw duality of her artistry, splitting into two distinct versions: Predator (Solar) and Enchantress (Lunar). Representing the balance between masculinity and femininity, confidence and vulnerability, power and introspection, this concept reflects Doechii’s personal and artistic transformation. The "Eclipse" serves as the ultimate metaphor for her journey—where light and darkness merge, symbolizing self-acceptance after fear, trauma, and rebirth. Each version explores a different facet of her identity..

Enchantress (Lunar) is ethereal and introspective, exploring themes of spirituality, deep emotions, and self-discovery. The imagery of the eyes representing how she is forever a student studying her passion for music. Taking inspiration from her connection to god, southern roots, and love for gospel music.

"She watches, studies, and grows—pulling from her Southern roots, her struggles, and her faith. She has seen the industry, felt its weight, and emerged with her own rhythm, walking through self-doubt to find clarity. In this version of the Eclipse, she is the Enchantress, embracing her femininity not as fragility, but as power—an ode to the whimsy, depth, and magic of Black women. She is open, unguarded—honest about her wounds, her battles, her journey to self-worth. Her vulnerability is raw, unfiltered. She stands in it, knowing that real power comes from facing yourself. The Eclipse is a cycle, and in its quietest phase, she does not run—she lets herself feel it all."

– Hulled Sunflower Seeds
These seeds represent the core—the heart of the seed, stripped of its outer shell. This mirrors the raw vulnerability at the center of Doechii’s artistry. She is not just a performer; she is someone who openly shares her trauma, fears, and personal growth through her music. Just as the seed must shed its protective hull to be fully accessed, an artist must strip away external expectations and industry pressures to reveal their truest self.

Excerpt

Predator (Solar) is bold, untamed, and dominant, visually capturing her hunger for success through sharp teeth, dynamic movement, and primal alligator imagery. Drawing from her love oh hip hop and rock n roll, with a rock star, businesswoman, beast mode aesthetic.

Black Oil Sunflower Seeds

Black oil sunflower seeds are known for their high-energy fuel, often eaten by birds to sustain their strength in harsh conditions. This mirrors Doechii’s relentless drive, her hunger for success, she fuels herself through her ambition, her raw confidence, and her refusal to be boxed in. Connecting to her identity as a Black woman in music, an artist who refuses to conform and instead reshapes the space around her.

Excerpt
"To be powerful is to know yourself—every sharp edge, every wound, every untamed instinct. Doechii’s confidence is raw, sinking her teeth into opportunities and not letting go. In this version of the Eclipse, Doechii is the Predator—not because she hunts, but because she refuses to be prey. The Predator is her at full force, teeth bared, taking up space without permission. This is more than survival—it’s transformation. The bite marks aren’t just scars, they are proof that she’s here, that she’s unstoppable. The Eclipse is a cycle, and at its peak, she stands untamed."

Pre-Order (only)

The striped seeds embody personal growth and duality, visually representing the push and pull of transformation—much like an eclipse—where light and dark coexist; they symbolize the in-between state, balancing Predator's black and Enchantress's white elements, and consuming them signifies embracing change and new cycles in life.

Inspired by Doechii’s lyric: "I'm a dying sunflower leaving a trail of seeds."
Eclipse Poster
This poster captures her full evolution—a close-up of Doechii with closed eyes with a closed mouth smile, a fusion of the two main images seen in the separate version. Surrounded by butterflies, a symbol of transformation and Doechii past traumas and fears (being a literally fear of hers). This moment represents her ultimate transformation—she is no longer running from fear; she has embraced it, and in doing so, she has become her most powerful self. As she said herself, “I love the way my ideas flow when I’m not scared”
